Integrate markers of Aboriginal culture into the design and fabric of landscape and architectural projects to connect Country.

What we do…

About mantirridesign…

Established in 2008, mantirridesign is an Aboriginal owned and operated landscape architecture and public art practice that creatively integrates markers of Aboriginal culture into the design and fabric of landscapes and architectural projects.

The practice offers landscape design and public art design and delivery. Its experience covers a wide range of project types and scales from the landscaping and place-making of public parks and transport corridors, through to the design of culturally sensitive spaces and culturally appropriate public artworks. Many clients are repeat clients that range from state and local government agencies to private companies and organisations within Australia.

mantirridesign recognises that when in a partnership with clients, Traditional Owners and stakeholders, the design practice has a critical responsibility towards the future of communities and to the environment by creating built works that integrate cultural overlays to reveal site specific stories of the landscape as told by our First Nations Peoples.

The extensive portfolio of mantirridesign projects and Paul have both been recognised through state and national landscape architecture, planning awards and various other awards in Australia.

mantirridesign is driven by a number of core design principles that explores each project through a First Nations cultural lens, consequently enriching spaces by intertwining connections between people, art, stories, culture and Country.

mantirridesign offers a design approach that is; culturally site sensitive and engaged with clients and Traditional Owners, as well as being adaptive to contextual opportunities and narratives within the landscape.

*Mantirri (Mun-tur-ree) is the Kaurna word for the Indigenous plant: Kunzea pomifera - Native Apple, Emu Apple, or Muntrie in the Ngarrindjeri language. Mantirri is also one of Paul’s Kaurna names - Paul Mantirri Munaitya Herzich.
