The Riverbank is a Kaurna Market

Description:

This artwork by mantirridesign was installed in Topham Mall, Adelaide in 2018 and is part of the $14.6M Market to Riverbank Link Project. The artwork enables people to learn, feel and experience aspects of the Kaurna language and culture today and Yangadlitya - for the future.

The artwork encapsulates the spirit and essence of a Kaurna cultural walk from the Riverbank to the Central Market within the city of Adelaide. Developed as a cultural educational tool, the installation activates the space to encourage people to linger longer and interact with the installation through opportunities of exploration, discovery and interpretation.

As people walk through the installation they come across various plants, animals and poetic sentences where they will need to look for clues within the installation and interpret what the sentence is about.
