Karrawirra pari mukapaanthi
Description:
Karrawirra pari mukapaanthi - to remember the river, is a laser engraved on timber artwork and is located at the new office of Mott McDonald, One Festival Tower, L17 Adelaide SA.
For thousands of years prior to the colonisation of Adelaide, the Kaurna people used the River Torrens/Karrawirra pari (Red Gum Forest River) to sustain their way of life. The river is a dreaming site and was a place for gathering, ceremony and resource.
On a still night, when the stars reflect on the river’s surface, the river connects to the The Milky Way/Wardlipari (Home River) making Sky Country above and Country below spiritually become one.
The river is still an important feature in the landscape for the living Kaurna people today.
