Nankeri Tapatawangk
Description:
Nankeri Tapatawangk (Ngarrindjeri for ‘Place of good water) is a 2.3 acre interpretive landscape that features 40 different local native plants, including 10 threatened species. The landscape also provides opportunities for visitors to learn aspects of the Ngarrindjeri culture and how water is important in daily life. Connected to Country, it is also a place for Ngarrindjeri people to come together to collect sedges for weaving workshop supplies.
What could have been a standard concrete box pump station, a collaboration between the mantirridesign, Ngarrindjeri Regional Authority and SA Water transformed the Swanport Pump Station into an artistic statement that expresses multiple aspects of Ngarrindjeri culture.
